Revance Therapeutics Announces Efficacy Of Topical Botulinum Toxin Type A For The Treatment Of Facial Wrinkles

Revance Therapeutics, Inc. ("Revance") announces that RT001, a topical botulinum toxin type A, under investigation for the treatment of crow"s feet wrinkles, demonstrated efficacy and safety in a US Phase 2b clinical study. The randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, dose-finding study showed efficacy versus placebo at primary and multiple secondary endpoints. This is the most recent Phase 2 study to demonstrate the efficacy of RT001 and the results are consistent with earlier Phase 2 studies conducted in the US and internationally. More than 200 patients have been treated with RT001 and it has been safe and well tolerated. "The benefits of RT001 are clear; patients achieve meaningful aesthetic results with a simple, painless procedure" said Richard Glogau, MD, Clinical Professor of Dermatology at University of California, San Francisco and principal investigator for the study, "The superficial muscles in the crow"s feet area can be relatively difficult to inject; this treatment will allow physicians to obtain a more consistent result while maintaining patients" natural expressions". Fredric Brandt, MD, who also participated in the study agrees, "RT001 represents a natural evolution in the treatment regimen which will appeal to a whole new segment of patients who want the cosmetic benefit but are unwilling to tolerate the discomfort and bruising caused by multiple injections". "We are very pleased with our progress and the data generated from our Phase 2 clinical program," commented Dan Browne, President and CEO of Revance, "It represents an important milestone for the company as we proceed to our End of Phase 2 meeting with the FDA later this year. I want to thank all the US and international Phase 2 Investigators and their clinical research teams for their efforts to achieve this milestone." About RT001 RT001, Botulinum Toxin Type A Topical Gel, an investigational product, is designed to reduce crow"s feet wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the muscles around the eye. Unlike other procedures that require several injections in the sensitive periorbital area, RT001 gel is simply applied by the physician and then wiped off after the procedure. Revance"s goal is to expand the market beyond other injectable treatments like Botox® Cosmetic, which despite their popularity, have only captured about 10% of the market. The Company believes that offering a safe, efficacious and painless procedure will appeal to the 9 out of 10 consumers who have considered treatment but are uncomfortable with the pain and bruising associated with injectables. RT001 is currently being studied for the treatment of lateral canthal lines (crow"s feet) and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Revance Therapeutics
